Togetherness at Christmas. Special lunch laid on for patients.

Last week we held our first Togetherness Lunch and former and current patients were invited along to enjoy a Christmas meal, fun, a good chinwag and a sing-song with children from Beech Hill School in Halifax.  The idea sprung from a lovely gesture that Occupational Therapist, Michelle Sykes is involved in outside of work.

Abbey "the handbag hunter" Wilson is a Star.

When a patient's wife lost her handbag, Ward 21's healthcare assistant Abbey Wilson started the search which took her around the ward and beyond....  In the end she called the bus company asking to join the search and at the same time negotiated the lady a free ride home as her bus pass was in the bag.  She then helped the lady cancel all her bank cards.

Puls-ating and a proper switch-on for Xmas light in Patient Pathway.

The deccies are going across CHFT - and none more special than the Patient Pathway Coordinating Team at HRI.  They had a "celebrity" switch on for their tree lights in their office under the lecture theatre at HRI.

Sal's new role....he's the Medical Lead of WYAAT.

Dr Sal Uka - wanna be CBBC presenter, cities lover, sprout hater and now....  Medical lead for West Yorkshire Association of Acute Trusts. (WYAAT)  He reckons "I always remember it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice’."  So well done Sal and here's more from him in our latest Hello My Name Is.... Sal Uka.

You're going to be CHuFT to bits... with our new annual awards ceremony for 2020

Next year we're launching our new look annual awards event with a brand new name and logo.  The CHuFT Awards!  CHuFT is the new name for everything we celebrate here at our Trust. We already have new distinctive posters with party popper branding across HRI and now we're going all out for a new name, new look staff awards next summer.

Vanessa Manning is such a Star "we'd be lost without her"

Vanessa Manning stopped in her tracks in shock when she suddenly spotted Owen Williams and a Star Award certificate in ED at CRH.  The surprise was sprung together with her nominator Laura Wyles who said Vanessa had taken all the new housekeepers "under her wing" and provides a fantastic example every day.

Highly commended and human pyramid wins Best Team photo of the Night. HSJ roundup.....

CHFT teams last night came away with two awards from the UK ‘s most fiercely fought healthcare awards of the year - the Health Service Journal awards now in their 39th year.  We had an amazing three teams at the HSJ finals hosted by Cold Feet star James Nesbitt - Digital Day Case Knee Surgery, 20:20 Outpatients project and the CRH Acute Team.

"I came for a two hour visit and ended up getting married." Ward 22 teamwork sort John and Celia's wedding.

It’s not often something borrowed, something blue at a wedding is an NHS lanyard.  But when HRI’s ward 22 turned around a wedding in a day the bride was simply delighted with it.  John Dunleavy and Celia Hillam were due to get married this Tuesday (Oct 29) at Calderdale Register Office.

We're celebrating after Nursing Associates Grace Bruines (SAU) and  Holly Tyrrell (Community) have landed places on the prestigious Florence Nightingale* Leadership Programme - without even needing an interview.
