Rosie Brear's special delivery

Rotational midwife, Rosie Brear, has recently delivered her 100th baby which also happens to be her first experience of a homebirth out in the community.     Rosie trained as a midwife until September 2015 after graduating from the University of Huddersfield, and began her career at the Trust in that October on the labour ward.

Our docs give their CHFT training a massive thumbs up... again!

Class of 2015 - Farewell FY1s

Once again, we have done really well in the GMC survey of doctors-in-training. This is a national survey and allows us to benchmark ourselves against other organisations down to a specialty level.     100% of our trainees responded and overwhelmingly they found our Trust friendly and supportive for their FY1 career.

"Great work which should be rolled out nationally!" CHFT win top award for Dementia Care

   It was a massive night of celebration on Tuesday when our pioneering dementia and prevention of delirium care was hailed the very best at the HSJ's Patient Safety Awards.     Our team beat off eight other finalists to clinch the top award for Dementia Care at the finals at Manchester Central.

Stroke team's care is second best in Yorks and Humber

There's fantastic news for the CHFT stroke team!    After a great deal of hard work from all members of the multidisciplinary team the stroke team have managed to improve their SSNAP score (Sentinel Stroke National Audit Programme) from a D to a B; which puts us second in the Yorks and Humber region after Scunthorpe General Hospital.

What our patients think of us: In-patient 2015 survey results are out

Curtains providing privacy in A&E cubicles

Better at patient privacy on the wards and in A&E and better at hand hygiene! The results of the annual Inpatient Survery 2015 are out.     In most areas scored, CHFT stayed the same but we are pleased to report improvements in the two key areas above scoring in the high 9s out of 10.

Tribute to Obe as theatres win Examiner's Friends of the Year trophy (on behalf of the whole Trust)

Jubilation at Pride of Huddersfield awards

Our theatres team at HRI paid tribute to colleague Obe Morake after clinching one of the top trophies of the night at the Examiner's Pride of Huddersfield awards.     They collected the "Friend of the Year" honour, in recognition of the huge support and trustwide fund-raising drive for Obe who passed away from pancreatic cancer in January aged just 35.
