Winkley's won it! Our latest Star Award winner

Caroline, Owen and colleagues on ICU at HRI

Caroline Winkley who organises our Remembrance Services for families whose relatives have died in our intensive care units, is our latest Star Award winner.     More than 80 people attended the service before Christmas and they lit candles in memory of their loved ones and also took away a pebble.

Teifi's our third Prof.

Our consultant ophthalmologist Teifi James -  the world's leading "dry eye" expert - has been appointed an honorary visiting professor.     He is the third  "prof" at CHFT and  joins oncologist JK Joffe and  knee expert  Gautam Chakrabarty to acquire the prestigious title.

Green for go in flow! Top team effort means no patients longer than 100 days

Patient flow teams on both sites.

For the first time since we started counting (in 2014) we have no patients in the hospitals who have been here over 100 days thanks to an all-round superb effort on patient flow.     Patient flow is centred on three key areas:  Patients being admitted through their GP or by A&E, their journey to diagnosis and treatment and then returning home.

Star nurse Wendy Schofield "one of the most compassionate people ever"

Staff nurse Wendy Schofield is our next Star Award winner for her "outstanding" care for a dying man during her night shift on 8c.     His family wrote into the ward with praise for the whole team but singled out Wendy for providing outstanding care when their father passed away.
