Cockerpoo's visit makes Rita Fletcher a Star Award winner

All bow-wow down to Ward 19's healthcare assistant Rita Fletcher who reunited a patient and his pooch and has scooped our latest Star Award.  Rita tracked down Rufus the cockerpoo, collected him from the centre where he was being looked after in Meltham and reunited him with his owner - and the tears flowed.

Hat-trick of Hurrahs! Three through to Nursing Times shortlist

We have an amazing three teams shortlisted for the the Nursing Times  finals for  2017.  They are:  Hospital Out Of Hours (HOOP) - Team of the Year category.  The HOOP team was set up to assist our teams on wards provide more effective care during the nights, weekends and bank holidays.

Wed on Ward 17. Staff help teenage sweethearts to marry 67 years after they first met

Christine and Gordon on their special day with all the ward staff

Ward 17 was the setting for the wedding of former HRI nurse Christine Crabtree and Gordon Howell - 67 years after they first met!  Staff made hasty bunting from post-its and arranged a buffet.  A registrar  was called to lead  the ceremony watched by the couple's friends and staff yesterday followed by a blessing by our chaplain George Spencer.

Ground-breaking CHFT leads mentoring way

In an aim to develop a more diverse and inclusive leadership at CHFT, 16 colleagues have been paired up with mentors in a unique mentoring programme - the first of its kind in the Yorkshire and Humber region.  The Inclusive Mentoring programme includes a number of Executive Directors and senior managers from the Trust.

Hazel's Noble efforts bags her a Star Award!

Ultrasonographer Hazel Noble not only put the patient first... she put his dog first!  Our patient, who lives in Todmorden, had had a triple AAA scan which revealed he had a dangerously high measurement and needed to come to hospital immediately to be seen by a surgeon.

Farewell Friday - Health Visitors: Thank you and sorry!

Commemorative, framed certificates were presented to everyone at a  special party for our Health Visitors.  They are transferring to Locala six years after joining CHFT from the then Calderdale Primary Care Trust when community care was reshaped.

Star Award for HCA Viv Rowan - "truly amazing and doesn't know it."

Colleagues flocked to the kitchen on ward 21 at HRI to watch as ‘gob-smacked’ healthcare assistant Vivienne Rowan accepted her award from  our CEO Owen Williams on a surprise presentation.  Nurse Manager Amanda Waring nominated Viv for the Star Award. She said: " Viv goes above and beyond when delivering patient care.

HRI Chapel setting for chairman's wedding - and Vroom! the bride came in to the Formula 1 theme.

Our Chairman Andrew Haigh and Alison Traher (pictured left) were married this week in the chapel at HRI ... 35 years after they first met!  The wedding needed a special licence from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Registrar to go ahead but HRI is so special for them both it had to be there. They are pictured with our CEO Owen Williams and his wife Heather.
