Hello my name is Gary Miles - one of the latest cohort of new nurses going through induction this week

It's been our pleasure to host the latest nurse induction week here at CHFT!  Our recruits are all pictured in the centre of our montage.  Over the last year we have recruited 193 qualified nurses to CHFT and this is the latest of our inductions for them. They have been deployed to inpatient ward areas and departments across the clinical divisions.

Andy's BAFTA nominated - backed by footie ace Ginola

Our Emergency Medicine consultant, Andy Lockey, has been shortlisted for a BAFTA!   Andy is one of the creators of Lifesaver VR which has been shortlisted in the ‘Learning’ category of this year’s Children’s BAFTAs awards. Lifesaver VR invites people into a time-critical situation to make decisions while learning to save a life.

Dump It Don and the Switch Off Squad on their way to you!

He's an unlikely superhero, but ever since Don Mackenzie starred in a screensaver promoting a Trust de-clutter he's become a local legend.  Then he was dubbed Dump It Don - and it stuck. He's been recognised as "Dump It" in the streets, so he became estates' natural cheerleader for their latest campaign.

The world needs more Garys - caring CRH security guard collects Star Award!

Compassionate, kind and caring are only a few words to describe Gary Allchin.  Our latest Star Award winner had seen Owen a few times that day already and never thought he would be a recipient.  Gary said: "I am totally speechless for the first time in my life. I normally always have at least something to say. I am totally grateful".

They're hired! Big welcome to them all our apprentices and a special hello from Eilish McLaughlin

The Trust is again in the position of welcoming new apprentices to our teams. We recruited two new cohorts in July and September and wish them all the very best in their careers with us.  These two cohorts are spread across both sites and Eilish McLaughlin, front row, right, is based at the intermediate care beds at Brackenbed View, Halifax.

This week we offer a big welcome to all our new nurses who have joined our teams and departments right acrss the Trust. EPR snatch 5-a-side trophy after penalty shoot out.

A goalie turned penalty king at our annual men's Health 5-a-side competition.  John Afriyie - see pictures - saved the last penalty taken by Procurement then scored EPR's winning penalty to give them a 5-4 win after it had been 1-1 at full time.  He said: " It  was absolutely fantastic.  It was fun and competitive and  all the teams enjoyed it.

Dementia campaigner and legend Tommy Whitelaw was guest speaker at our Nursing and Midwifery Conference this week  - and reduced the packed room to tears.

Our maternity teams are backing a new national campaign to provide extra support to mums and their families.  #AlwaysAsk is backed by leading charity Tommy’s and is actively encouraging mums-to-be not to be afraid to talk to maternity staff – doctors as well as midwives - about anything they may have on their minds.
