Congrats Alison Milner - the "backbone" of Pathology Quality and next Star Award winner

She's just great!.That's how Alison Milner was described by her nominator Gavin Boyd.  Owen's arrival with the Star Award certificate caught Alison totally by surprise in true Eamonn Andrews style. He greeted her with: "This is your life! You're the glue holding everything all together in Pathology. Congratulations Alison and you deserve this.

Matron Melling's march... and an appeal for the weekend

Karen and a snow drift

Our surgical matron Karen Melling wasn't going to defeated by the Beast.   She set off on foot  but had to turn back due to the poor weather. After a brew she got back out there to walk to work for her noon shift.  She said: "  We live on top of a hill overlooking a valley in Halifax.

First pioneering percutaneous EVAR performed successfully by the Radiology team in CHFT.

The interventional radiology team at CHFT is celebrating the successful performing of both the first acute and elective percutaneous EVAR (endovascular aneurysm repair) procedures.  They were performed by Dr Chalam Viswanathan our Consultant Interventional Radiologist and this is a major development in minimally invasive Interventional Radiology within the Trust.

Our Orthopaedic Team has received national recognition for its commitment to delivering the best, safe care to patients undergoing joint surgery.  The team - based on both sites -  have been recognised as a Quality Data Provider by the National Joint Registry (NJR).

Trish and Ros scoop our next Star Award after Giants' star Eorl wins handbag!

The "Trish and Ros" Show has been a fundraising double act for years!. Their delicious cakes and tombola stall on the Eye Clinic at CRH  is a real highlight of the year and it is just getting bigger and bigger.   This year saw Giant's rugby legend Eorl Crabtree win a handbag in the raffle and he was thrilled to support our ladies.

Ward 7b's Wedding Planners are our first Star Award winners in 2018

7b's superstars turned into Wedding R Us when a long-stay patient and her partner wanted to tie the knot.  One member of staff loaned a dress and others went shopping to The Range after work to ensure they could transform the dayroom and make it a little bit special for the event.

Thanks for a lovely time...! Massive theatres' thank-you from colleague Karen Melling

Not many people would rate their time in theatres as "lovely" but matron Karen Melling said just that after her stay earlier this month at a time when we're facing unprecedented challenges. It's a cracking read written by someone who spends her weeks delivering compassionate care.  We wish Karen a speedy recovery and return to work.

We're in "unprecedented" times...: A very big thank-you

With the NHS creaking under winter pressures like never before, a massive thank-you has gone out to all CHFT staff.  It’s been hailed an “unprecedented”  time of challenge for all Trusts - so critical that Trusts have been advised to delay non-urgent operations and non-urgent outpatients from the Department of Health.
